Ginisang Togue is another dish that is often seen at the dinner table and sidewalk eateries known as Turo-Turo restaurants in the Philippines. I remember when I was a kid, my mom would cook Togue all the time since they’re so easy to find and fresh. It was hard for her not to get some every time she saw it at the market. Togue is also easy and quick to cook, not to mention a very healthy food, which makes it a top choice when it comes to dinnertime.
This Ginisang Togue is a bit different than we usually cook it. I will also post that recipe on this blog when I get a chance. I incorporated some healthy elements to this dish too.
First, I am using skinless, boneless chicken breast as the meat element rather than ground beef or pork, and then I also incorporated Tokwa (tofu) to compliment the healthiness of the Togue (beans sprouts).
Another healthy element that I incorporated is Sesame Oil. The natural, nutty taste of sesame oil gives this dish a unique taste and aroma. Finally, I used Oyster sauce rather than fish sauce for added flavor.
As you can see, this is not your traditional classic Ginisang Togue. Okay, enough talk lets cook this already.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups Togue – bean sprouts
- 1-½ cups of pre-fried Tokwa – sliced thinly (see video)
- 1 large skinless, boneless Chicken breast – sliced thinly
- 1 small Onion – sliced thinly
- 3 cloves of Garlic
- 1 tbs. Oyster sauce
- 4 tbs. cooking Oil
- ½ tsp. ground black pepper
- For the marinade:
- 1 tbs. Soy sauce
- 1 tbs. Sesame oil
- 1 tsp. Sugar
- ¼ tsp. Ground black pepper
Instructions:
For the marinade
- Combine Chicken breast with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and ground black pepper.
- Mix it well and set aside.
Cooking Instructions for the main dish
- Heat 1 tbs. cooking oil and fry the Tokwa (tofu). It is important not to put too much oil at this point, otherwise you can get burned by popping cooking oil.
- After all the Tokwa is cooked, remove from the pan, and let it cool off before slicing it thinly.
- Add 2 tbs. cooking oil to the pan, brown, and cook the marinated chicken breast.
- Once it’s cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside.
- Now, with a clean pan heat 2 tbs. cooking oil in the pan and brown the garlic.
- Add onions when garlic is ready and allow the onions to cook for one minute.
- After that, add the sliced Tokwa, and allow it to cook for two minutes.
- After the two minutes, you can now add the cooked chicken breast, stir until well incorporated, and allow it to cook for two more minutes.
- Add the oyster sauce and adjust the taste with salt and pepper if needed.
- Add the bean sprouts, stir it well and allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve with white steamed rice. Enjoy!

you forgot to write when to add the bean sprouts, your main ingredient.
Thanks for pointing that out. It is now corrected.
